India-Korea Final (9/8/2007)
India majestically made into the final of the BSNL 7th Asia Cup. Playing against capacity crowd, many of which are first timers to hockey sport, the hosts turned dished out a scintillating display while setting aside the tough challenge of Japan. India’s four goals against one, truly reflects the field proceedings. IF one leaves out the first 10, 12 minutes, when India seemingly sluggish, it was India’s way in the rest of the time.

Playing like a champion, the entire team moved like a well-oiled machine. Some of the goals, the second and last for India by resurgent Prabhjot Singh were a beauty to behold. He threw his arms open, ran like a vampire, and those were the moments the crowd longed for and got it too.

His two goals and one each by Roshan Minz and Shivendra Singh sealed the match in favour of the hosts.

It was good advertisement for Indian hockey, as inter alia a good number of Asian Hockey Federation officials, who are here to participate in their executive council meeting were present for both the semifinals.

AHF president Sultan Azlan Shah, however, had to see his team losing out to impeccable Koreans. Despite equaling the Korean’s lead, Malaysia conceded a field goal to end as the loser. Now Malaysia will take on Japan for bronze tomorrow.

About 50 cricketers, who are part of Indian Cricket League, also witnessed the match, and must have returned satisfied onIndia's performance.
