ROURKELA: Rourkela Steel Plant’s supremacy in SAIL U-16 Hockey Tournament has remained unchallenged since the inception of the tournament three years ago. Rourkela has won all the three editions of the tournament played so far. They won the latest 3rd edition played at Durgapur (W.Bengal). In the title clash played at the Nehru stadium on 25th October RSP defeated host Durgapur by a brace of goals. Mangal Kispotta scored both the goals in each half.

The tournament was conducted by the sports section of Durgapur Steel Plant between 21st to 25th October. Four SAIL steel plants- Rourkela, Bhilai, Bokaro and Durgapur participated in this tournament played on the round robin league basis. Rourkela drew its first match against Durgapur 0-0. In the second match played on 23rd October RSP defeated Bhilai Steel Plant by a solitary goal scored by Marcus Topno. In their third league match they registered a comfortable 4-0 voctory over Bokaro Steel plant. Sunil Kandulana (2), Chonhas DungDung (1) and Marcus Topno (1) were the scorers for the RSP team.
