Namdhari XI stuns BPCL in Senior Nehru (11/23/2009)

Namdhari XI secured their semi final birth in the 46th Jindal Steel Nehru Senior Hockey Tournament 2009, by beating BPCL in a hard-fought match.

Harpreet Singh got lead for Namdharis which was equalized by Gurpreet Singh of BPCL. Gurmeet Singh made it 2-1 for Namdharis in the 47t minute but a goal each from Gurpeet Singh, Amar Aiyamma & Punolik made it 4-3 for BPCL in the 55th minute and their win look almost certain.

But the fighter Namdharis did not lose heart and a goal each from Malak Singh(56th minute), Harpreet Singh (65th minute) & Harmeet Singh (67th minute) booked a place in the semis, as they won an interesting encounter 5-4.

In another match, I.O.C. beat P & S Bank 3-1.

Daler Singh of PSB was the first and the last goal scorer for PSB but a double penalty corner conversion from Didar Singh and a field goal from Hamaz Mujtaba won it 3-1 for IOC.

On 23rd November, Army XI will take on P.N.B. while O.N.G.C. will play Air India.
