Indian Oil Corporation consolidated thier posisition in the 84th MCC-Murugappa gold cup. The Oilmen outclassed Karnataka XI 6-3 in Pool A. captain Deepak Thakur was in top form and scored three goals besides settting up another for his forwards.

In another Pool A match that could have gone either way, Indian Railways fought gallantly for a 3-2 result against Mumbai XI. Veteran Ignace Tirkey and Jerum Kumar scored a brace, while the Armymen led a comfortable 5-2 win over Namdhari XI in Pool B. Namdhari scored twice in the second half, but it was too late and too few to make up.
