MP Ganesh forms his own hockey team (7/31/2007)

Olympian MP Ganesh’s new outfit, Synergy Sports Club, wins its first match in the Division C league match of the KS Hockey League, Bangalore. Retired from the services recently, Ganesh formed the new team using his own resources and enlisted it in the highly competitive KS hcokey league.

On Tuesday, the new team consisting of boys from various schools based in Bangalore, and hardly a month old, defeated ITC team by 4-1, most of the goals coming in the second half.

Outlining the purpose of forming a team, the celebrated Olympian said that that he wanted to spare his time in training the team which can also keep him ‘fit’.

Regarding the future plan, he said that he would be forming such teams in many parts of Karnataka, where hockey is popular and needs genuine support and care. Collecting all those players in a common place and providing them required diet will be his long shot.

As of now, a genuine hockey promoting step has definitely been takn. This is much is for sure.
