League stage over, wait for the semis in Sr. Nehru (11/24/2009)

In 46th Jindal Steel Nehru Senior Hockey Tournament 2009, last set of league matches were played in 23rd November.

The first one was a draw between Army XI and Punjab National Bank. Jalwinder Singh converted a penalty corner in the 39th minute for PNB. Just 4 minutes later, Aliazer Lakra's field goal made it 1-1. Match ended in a draw and both the teams had same goal difference as well as the numbers of goals scored.

So in order to get a result, a tie-braker was played, and PNB won it and hence, topped the Pool B.

Second match was also a 2-2 draw between ONGC and Air India. Harpal Singh & B. Topo scored a piece for ONGC while Dhanpat Pilley and V.S. Vinay netted once each for Air India.

Today, both the semi-finals well be played. Indian Oil (IOC) will take on Army XI in the first semi while Namdhari XI will play PNB in the second one.
