Jalandhar School wins Sub Junior Nehru Hockey (10/29/2009)

Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School, Ladowali Road, Jalandhar has won the Sub Junior Nehry Hockey, beating Spring Dales sr. sec. school, Amritsar 4-2. Jalandhar's Simarjeet Singh got his team's 1st goal in the 23rd minute. 3 minutes later, skipper Mandeep Singh doubled it. At the half time, Jalandhar was leading 2-0. In the second half, Gurpreet Singh reduced Jalandhar's lead, which was soon restored by Jalandhar skipper. Gurpreet Singh got the second goal again, which was interestingly overcome by his opponent captain, and hence Jalandhar won the finals 4-2. In the hard line match, Baba Gurmukh Singh Uttam Singh Sr. Sec. School, Khadoor Sahib mauled St. Mary’s High School, Simdega (Jharkhand) 5-1. Amrtipal Singh scored a hat-trick of goals while Harmandip singh and the skipper Sukhdev Singh scored a piece each. Xavier Ekka got the only goal for the Simdega school.
