Indian girls qualify for the World Cup (12/21/2008)

The Junior Indian Women’s Hockey Team has won the Bronze Medal in the 5th U-21 Women Junior Asia Cup held at Kualalumpur, Malaysia from 13-21 December 2008, by defeating Japan 3-1. Thus, India qualified for the 6th Women's Junior World Cup scheduled to be held at Boston (United States) from 3-16 August 2009.

India also qualified for the last Junior World Cup, held in Chile, where it finished ninth in the field of 16. Indians won the bronze in the last Junior Asia Cup as well, which was held in Hyderabad, India.

Soundarya Yendala, raising star from Andhra Pradesh, scored the first goal, by sounding the board by indirect Penalty corner. The half time score was 1-0 in favour of India. In the second half Vandana Katariya increased the lead to 2-0 with a beautiful reverse hit from the top of the shooting circle.

Earlier, India lost to China in the semifinal 2-1.

The Japan scored it’s first goal in the next half through a penalty corner rebound. The third goal was scored by Anuradha Devi. She has dodged a host of defenders and at last in one to one situation after beating goal keeper, she scored the third goal to confirm the victory over Japan.”

Indian team coach was Hardyal Singh Bhangu.

"CONGRATULATION" . But now we have to work very hard world-cup standard is very high and we have work from today only ,start home work from today only,Good for Hockey keep it up.
