Indian captain Sandeep Singh set the tune for India mid way through the first half. He converted a stroke successfully in the 28th minute. Pakistan's Abbas Haider neutralzed 15 minutes into the second half.

Sandeep again rose to the occasion with an immaculate conversion of a penalty corner in the 60th minute.

Defeatless India thus made it to the Sunday Final. This is second successive final for India.

India drew Egypt and New Zealand before swamping Malaysia 3-0 in the league.

In a repeat of last year, India overcame Pakistan in a crucial match. Last year India needed a draw to enter the final, this time nothing less than a win would have done done. India acheived the same.

The other finalist will be known after the second and last match between Malaysia and New Zealand, which is played under floodlight.

Malaysia needs a draw while New Zealand full points to be in the final. In either case India has a bright chance to return with the Cup.
