India registered its first win in the Commonwealth Games 2018, after they defeated Malaysia 4-1 in its second match. Under pressure after losing its opener 1-2 against Wales, the team took lead and maintained its dominance throughout.

India scored the first goal, when drag-flick expert Gurjit Kaur flicked the ball to the left. Despite getting three more penalty corners, India had to satisfy itself with the 1-0 lead.

Malaysia got its equaliser in the 38th minute after Nuraini Rashid scored off the second penalty corner.

India, went on an attacking spree and earned a penalty corner in the same minute, which was converted by Gurjit to help regain the lead within a minute.

As the match went to the last quarter, both the teams looked for gaps while trying to score. India got the opportunity in the 56th minute, when Neha Goyal assisted skipper Rani standing on the goal-mouth, who simply tapped into the nets.

With one minute to go for the final hooter, India increased its lead with Lalremsiami and Vandana Katariya combining for the attack. Lalremsiami intercepted a Malaysian cross and send it over to Vandana, who took it inside the Malaysian D, whose return pass was swiftly put inside the net by Lalremsiami.
